I apologize for the terrible picture, and the dude's pants hanging down. These guys are currently swapping this Civic's motor in my parking lot with nothing more than basic hand tools. They don't even have a hoist. They just lifted the old motor out with brute strength.
I've done some pretty wacky parking lot repairs myself. I told them about the time one of my Miatas fragged its differential on Christmas, but I had a spare in storage (as you do - leftover from an LSD swap on a previous Miata), and with a friend's help, some good beer, and no parts stores open, we swapped it in the parking lot on the day after Christmas so that I could get to work the following day. But that doesn't hold a candle to what these guys are doing right now. I raise my can of Yuengling to them.

Roadkill as fuck right there.

They're probably stealing it.

Nah, it's legit. The old motor is on the ground in front of the car, with a busted timing belt, bent valves, and all kinds of nastiness. The motor behind the car is the replacement.
Whether they stole that or not, I have no idea...

Bad move on the brute strength. An engine hoist is a lot cheaper than a slipped disc.

good times. I've done a couple clutch jobs on Tsurus myself. That was more curb side than parking lot tho :]

It's a Civic, there's no telling.

That's ridiculously awesome. I tip my hat to them.

What are they swapping in?

I agree. I figure these guys are working on no budget at all.

Same as the old one, no upgrades for now. They're just trying to get the thing back on the road.

Is this the spare ride the producers brought along for if they can't get the car going again?

This is pretty f'ing cool, not my choice of cars and I hope they aren't ricer idiots but props to 'em for even attempting this. I hope it works out for them.

Judging from the fart can on the Integra I think they're a little ricer, but whatever - mad props to them for even trying this.

Well, Hopefully they hang on to the old one and rebuild it in an interesting way at least!
Also, dead Honda engine, I thought those didn't exist outside of extreme neglect or a billionty miles.

Their next project:

It's an interference engine, and the timing belt snapped. Pistons crash into valves, and game over, man.

Oh yes, that does happen!
Hard lesson: basic maintenance goes a long way, check your belts!

if there's a car to do that with, it's a 6th Gen civic.

nah, just a screen name I thought up years ago. Archery is an interesting sport/hobby though.

Wow that is impressive. It would make a great show if someone did a swap like this.
